On Samsø ingredients are found right on one’s doorstep, including juniper berries and not least the orange flavoured jet ants.
The local aspect – and the great flavour of course – determined the exact combination of flavours forming the basis for Sams Island London Dry Gin.
Orange Flavoured Jet Ants
(Lasius fuliginosus)
The orange flavoured jet ant is closely related to the black garden ant. The ants have a glossy black colour and you can be recognised them by their scent and taste of grated orange peel.
