When you buy a share in this rum cask from Jamaica, you get 2 bottles of 70 cl when the cask is 14 years old. Expected bottling is the beginning of January 2025, as the rum was distilled on 31 December 2010, and we cannot bottle on the exact same date in 2024.

The cask is bottled at this time – unless a cask sample shows that the rum should be stored for longer time. We will take a cask sample home once a year so we can taste how the rum develops. We also put 3 cl cask samples on the shop, so you also can follow the process and taste it along the way.

The cask is sold to us as “Jamaica Rum Barrel”, and we therefore do not know which distillery the rum originally came from. It is a “single-cask rum”, and it will also be bottled like this when the time comes for the actual bottling. The cask will be bottled at the cask strength that the rum has at that time, and it is expected to be approx. 54% vol.

We expect approx. 285 bottles out of the cask if we bottle it in January 2025 (at 14-year-old rum). However, we have chosen to put only 130 cask shares (260 bottles) up for sale to be sure that there are enough bottles for all members in the cask. The remaining bottles will, when they return home in January 2025, be sold as single bottles on the web shop, and in our store.

We have received a sample home from the cask, which we sell cask samples of as long as stock lasts.

So here is the opportunity to get a few really good bottles of rum from a Jamaica rum cask, when it is bottled at 14 years old.

About buying cask shares

The price stated on the cask shares, is per cask share and is for the alcohol in each cask share
The size of each cask share, is stated for each unit under “Bottles per share”
If a larger share of the casks is wanted, offers for this can be made after contacting Fadandel.dk
The certificate of the cask share is sent together with your purchase invoice and together is the proof of your purchase
The certificate is personal and therefore cannot be transferred to a third party, without prior agreement with Fadandel.dk
When the bottles from the individual cask are on their way home to Denmark, the co-owners will be sent an invoice on import fee that are stated on the cask share
The bottle size is set at 70cl standard round bottles, unless otherwise stated on the individual casks share. And always bottled at cask strength
All bottles in the cask are affixed with Fadandel’s label, unless otherwise agreed in advance
After the cask has been bottled and the bottles have arrived in Denmark, the co-operatives will be contacted for the collection of the bottles
If the bottles in your share are to be shipped to you, you will be charged for the shipping
Import fee is a calculation, and are to be paid when the bottles have arrived in Denamrk. The price are based on the known expenses (at the time of purchase of the cask), which are bottling of the cask, bottles, labels, home transport and VAT
Should unforeseen expenses be incurred in connection with the return of the share bottles, this price will be regulated, as we cannot foresee the possible costs changes, that may come in the future on alcohol imports
Cask samples, Fadandel.dk will periodically (about every 2 years) take a sample from each cask
These cask samples are taken in part to follow the development of the cask/whisky, and for customers can buy a sample on the web shop and in our store
