BREXIT
| From 1 January 2021, Great Britain is no longer a member of the EU. This has given rise to several concerns about whether there will now be customs duty on whisky after Brexit. On 30 December 2020, a trade agreement was signed between the EU and Great Britain. The agreement means that there will be NO duty on whisky imported from Scotland. However, CUSTOMS paperwork must be prepared in both Great Britain and Denmark, which means that there has been a “minor” price increase on the import of whisky from 1 January 2021. Great Britain is now a 3rd party country, which means that a lot more paperwork must be done, both in the exporting and in the importing country. We expect this price increase to be somewhere between DKK 5-8 per bottle when we import whisky in the future. WHISKY IN STOCKFortunately, we have our own stock in Denmark, and the bottles that’s already here, we do not expect price increases to come. And remember, we always have open bottles, so when you come by our store you can taste before you buy – including the rum and gin bottlings that we sell. IMPORT OF WHISKYSince we started back in May 2011, we have imported a lot of bottles for clubs, associations, etc., in addition to our own bottlings for the store and, not least, the cask shares of our casks. Do you have a cask of whisky that you like to get bottled or need help to bring bottles home, we will gladly help with this – and we will do everything we can to get the bottled bottles home before the Brexit.
